Beauty is simplicity. Or the other way round? Pearl bush confirms both. The name itself sounds very attractive and the shrub is definitely a showstopper in full bloom. Pearl bush comes from Asia and the racemosa species is from China.
LOTUS MOON™ is a slow-growing pearl bush variety with a profusion of flowers. They are 2-3 cm across, snow white, composed of 5 petals which are narrower than on other varieties owing to which they look like stars. They are borne in short racemes from late April for 2-3 weeks. They have no fragrance but appear in abundance every year. Narrowly obovate, deciduous leaves are mid green and come out along with the flowers and turn amber orange in autumn.
LOTUS MOON™ makes a compact, upright growing, oval-shaped shrub. It can be planted in the back of a garden bed or in a large outdoor container. Pruning is not needed but if you wish to keep it smaller and very dense you can cut it after flowering, so it has plenty of time to make new branches with many flower buds. It does best in moist but well-drained, slightly acidic soil in full sun or dappled shade. Fully hardy to approx. -37 °C (USDA zone 3).
