Beauty is simplicity. Or the other way round? Pearl bush confirms both. The name itself sounds very attractive and the shrub definitely is a show-stopper when in full bloom.
Pearl bush is a deciduous shrub with pure white, 2-3 cm large flowers composed in short racemes in late spring and early summer. They have no fragrance but appear in abundance every year. Obovate leaves are light to mid green and come out early in the spring.
It is a mound forming, slow growing bush with arching branches and looks great planted along with other broadleaved shrubs and trees in natural-looking landscapes, it can also be used in ambitious gardens planted as a specimen shrub. Being absolutely maintenance-free it is ideal for growing in parks and low-maintenance areas.
Pruning is not needed. It can withstand almost any soil, preferably moist but well-drained. Fully hardy to approx. -34°C (USDA zone 4).
