Firecracker is an attractive perennial with purple leaves and yellow flowers. The lance-shaped leaves are mahogany to burgundy red, and star-shaped flowers are bright yellow offering a good contrast with the foliage. The leaves turn bright red in autumn.
It is soil tolerant as far as pH. It prefers fertile, moist soil and withstands temporary waterlogging, rather than drought. It grows about 60 cm tall and wide, though, under good conditions it may get a bit invasive. Grow it in full sun or part shade. Fully hardy to approx. -37°C (USD zone 3).
