We are specialists in evergreen plants and offer the widest possible range of hardy, quality plants. English (cherry) laurel is probably the most common and reliable species.
“Mount Vernon” is an American variety of the lowest cherry laurel which is used for borders, rock gardens, and most often as a luxuriously looking groundcover. The leaves are highly glossy, bright to deep green and slightly drooping which brings an extra elegant feature. Although this is a dwarf form, it keeps the leaf size of its parent plants – the leaves can be up to 15 cm long. Occasional tiny white flowers appear in May and are followed by black fruit which is often hidden under the leaves. For a groundcover use 3-4 plants in one square meter. It prefers a semi-shaded location where roots will remain cool soil. That has to be acidic, permeable, rich in humus and always moist. In winter provide extra watering in frost-free periods.
