Loosestrife is our native perennial from moist meadows and ditches. Even though it is a water-loving plant it can grow in locations which may temporarily dry out completely in summer. It is listed as an endangered species in Czechia and Slovakia.
Dropmore Purple is a dense growing Loosestrife variety with rich pink to light purple red star-shaped flowers from midsummer until early autumn. They are produced on well-branched, thin, hairless stems and open from the bottom upwards. As they remain fresh for a long time when the top buds open the bottom ones are usually still open thus offering a stunning look of a glowing pink-purple clump. Leaves are narrowly lance-shaped, deep green, deciduous.
Loosestrife will grow in virtually any soil, preferably in moist of water-logged conditions in full sun. It may self seed so unless you with the plant to spread remove flowered stems as soon as flowers have faded out. Hardy to about -40°C (USDA zone 4).
