You must remember how thrilled the hydrangea world was when Limelight® was introduced. Well, a few years later it seems it has a little sister. And ‘little’ is the most correct word since this new achievement is called LITTLE LIME® for a reason. This panicle hydrangea is a dwarf selection of Limelight bearing equal profusion of flowers of the same colour as Limelight, it is just smaller and quite compact.
LITTLE LIME® is a trade name for a panicle hydrangea variety with a patent name Jane. It was bred by Timothy D. Wood in 2007 and patented in 2011 under PP22,330. From midsummer it produces 10x12 cm large inflorescences composed of sterile flowers 2-3 cm across, that emerge somewhat very light lime green and mature to soft cream but not white. In late summer and early autumn they age to light pink.
It will grow in almost any soil type, preferably humus-rich, moist soil that will not too heavy or shallow. You can plant it almost anywhere as it takes full sun or shade. Make it a small specimen plant or use it in a low hedge, whatever suits you best. Hardy to min. -34°C (USDA zone 4).
