Deciduous broadleaf Hedging plants |
Lemon and Lime® is a modern variety of privet. It produces semi-deciduous, golden yellow to yellow-green, small leaves which persist on the plant until the first hard frosts (January in zone 6), and are replaced by new foliage in spring.
This variety grows slower than common privet, however, it is quite a vigorous grower which will benefit from regular pruning or shaping in order to keep it neat. It can be cut in early spring and in midsummer. It looks fantastic edging garden beds or paths, be it very formal, cut into precise box shapes, or a little loose.
Privet is not fussy about soil type. It will grow in almost any soil except wet or heavy, compacted clay. Grow it in full sun or shade. Hardy to about -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
