Pine trees are superb trees which grow in a wide climate scale - from cold northern countries to hot coastal sites. They are probably most beautiful in their natural environment.
Toscana is a new variety of black pine with long, erect, dark green needles, borne in whorls of 2. It forms a compact, dense, rounded, slow growing shrub that will fit a small garden, too, and will look great in a garden that is designed to imitate Mediterranean landscape. To enhance the seaside feeling use small stones or sand for mulching.
Being so new ultimate height is not known yet but is expected about 3-4m. As every pine, it needs full sun and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Do not over-water pines but make sure they do not dry out when re-planted. Fully hardy to min.-30°C (USDA zone 5) and is expected to be much hardier.
