Bravo to French cultivators who come up with this new variety of bluebeard! Want to hear why we are so excited about it? Compared to its parent this one has deep green, larger leaves with silvery underneath; deeper blue and more numerous flowers; its flowering period is rather extended from mid August till end September; it has a more compact habit which makes it suitable for even the smallest of gardens. Flowers attract bumble bees and butterflies. The leaves have an interesting scent which recalls cooking herbs.
It is quite soil tolerant, however, it does best in fertile, very well-drained soil in full sun. In the spring cut back previous year’s growth to max.10 cm to encourage strong, new branches that will form an even denser and more abundantly flowering shrub. Fully hardy to about -24°C, on sheltered position to -27°C (USDA zone 5b).
